Welcome to Our Home

The Year 2009 in Our Home

Posted by: Jojo on: February 19, 2010

It’s been so long that I haven’t had the chance to update this blog…One whole year!

So this post will summarise all the happy celebrations and bonding moments that happened in our home in 2009 (I am still in the process of looking for some of the pictures).

I celebrated my 35th birthday in April by staying at home to watch Grey’s Anatomy and Lipstick Jungle marathons. My good friend Vina came by for lunch and we feasted on pansit bihon, biko, fresh lumpia (made by her mom!) and leche flan. We didn’t get to have our picture taken, but this setting was beautifully captured by her.

In the evening, my friend Pat and her then fiance Jeff (now hubby) dropped by to greet me in person.

Our good friends Jing & Robin stayed with us on their 2-week vacation/business trip in May. It was good to reconnect with them, after they have gone home for good in Manila in the previous year. Unfortunately we were not able to take any pictures at home.

In August, my BFF Jonet and her family came over for a week of errands and leisure and stayed with us. It was a really chaotic week, with 4 kids running around the house. Nevertheless, it was so much fun having them around.

Around the same time that the Ramirez family was around, hubby’s kuya A and his wife were in town for a tour. It was Kuya’s first time in Singapore. We had an impromptu dinner at home during one of the evenings they were around.

In October, newlyweds and hubby’s childhood friends Fleur and Alvin spent their honeymoon in Singapore. They dropped by the house on our way to our dinner to meet the girls.

We had a small celebration at home on Chrissie’s 2nd birthday. Chrissie’s Ninang Vina and Ninong Kris with little Seth joined us for lunch.

In the evening, my BFF (who was on a business trip that week) joined us for the family dinner.

In December, for her long Christmas break, Dets (my sister) spent 1 week with us before heading back to Manila. We had a great time catching up, and of course, shopping and dining out.

For Christmas Eve, we invited hubby’s colleagues to celebrate and welcome Christmas with us. Needless to say, they were all wasted with food and alcohol by the time Christmas Day came.

Lastly, for our New Year welcome, we had our dear kapatid Liz who was spending NY away from her family for the first time. It was also our last get-together with her as she finally went back to the Philippines for good in January.

What a great year it has been. I’m looking forward to more happy events in our home this year…and hopefully, I’ll get to update this blog more often. Happy New Year (Western and Chinese)!

Noisy Girls & Juniors

I love the holidays because not only it is a time for getting together with friends who are near, it is also a chance for reuniting with old friends who are visiting from far away. One of my dear dear friends Tin and her family have moved to Australia over a year ago. As in the past when I was still in Manila and she was in Singapore, we’d always make sure we will meet up whenever the chance is there. One of those opportunities came up when they stopped over in Singapore on the way back to Australia.

We had pasta & pizza for dinner while catching up on our lives, while our girls played.

G’day, mate!

I’ve made good friends from my 1st job in Singapore, and I’m happy to say the friendship has lasted to this day, even though we have all gone our own separate ways.
Jo went on even further and moved to Melbourne more than a year ago. On her way back to Manila for the holidays, her flight stopped over at Singapore and she took the opportunity to meet with friends, including myself and our other ex-colleague Grace.

We had breakfast at home for our mini-reunion and talked for hours till it was time for Jo to meet with her other Singapore-based friends.
