We had an unexpected (yet wonderfully so) guest who arrived in Singapore last week. Albert was hubby’s old colleague and friend who also happens to be one of the Princess’ godfathers. He was in Singapore for a few days for the processing of his work visa for Russia (yes, of all places!). Instead of going out to meet him, he suggested to visit us instead in our home on Labor Day. It turned out to be a good idea since we were able to spend a lot of time catching up and exchanging family stories. I managed to cook up an instant dinner of Baked Macaroni–good thing he is such a cowboy he’d actually eat anything I serve him.

I could feel the pain in his eyes when he talked about leaving his wife and little daughter (she is just a year younger than my own). But the job in Russia is too good to pass up–it was something that could help him provide a much better future for his family.
After a few hours, we said our goodbyes to him with all our best wishes in his new endeavor in Russia.
